Saturday 2nd May,               Sir Thomas and Lady Dickson Park  (General)

Meet at 2.00 p.m. in the upper car park of Dickson Park (sign posted off the Upper Malone Road).

A member of the Parks department will give us a conducted tour with emphasis on the history of the estate and the identification of trees. Refreshments in the Stables restaurant will follow this.

Tuesday 5th May,                   Members’ Night     7.00 pm. Manor House Folk Museum

There will be a change to our format this year as we will have a presentation by Aidan McMichael entitled ‘Belfast Then and Now’. This will be followed by another short presentation by Marion Allen and Joan Semple on the flora, geology and history of Jordan, subtitled “Going Native in Jordan”. During the tea interval there will be an opportunity to view slides of last year’s field trip to Westport and Clare Island.

Tuesday 12th May                  Industrial Geology,   Scrabo North Quarry.

Take a walk into history to look for clues to what was once the lifeblood of Newtownards.

Meet at 7.00 p.m. at the entrance path leading to the North Quarry. This is opposite 19 Old Belfast Road, Newtownards. (J476735) On leaving Newtownards, continue to drive up the hill past the sign to Scrabo Country Park (do not turn off) and the entrance is a short distance on your left. Park on the roadside -  N.B. This is NOT the car park beside the golf club.

Saturday 16th May                Presidential Outing  (pre-booked)

Reminder of where to meet for those members who have booked a place on the coach.

Meet at 10.00 a.m. at the Banbridge Tourist Centre / F.E. McWilliam Gallery, signposted from the Outlet Junction on the A1 at Banbridge. There is car parking at the Centre and the coach will pick us up from there at 10.45 a.m.

Tuesday 26th May                  Brown’s Bay  (Botanical)

Meet in the car park at Brown’s Bay, Islandmagee,   grid ref. D437028 at 7.00 pm.

This will be mostly coastal flora and in some places we will be examining coastal flush, so Wellington boots or other waterproof footwear may be necessary. This outing will be suitable for all level of botanists. If you think you have no botanical knowledge come along and learn something.
