“Some Castles of County Louth”

Meet at the Carrickdale Hotel (J073180) at 10.30 a.m. for departure at 11
a.m.
We will be visiting several castles in
North Louth including Dun Dealgan Motte, Roche Castle and
Killincoole Castle. Some of these are off the beaten track and
cannot normally be viewed up close. We will be walking mainly on
unpaved pathways and across farmland. It will be necessary to climb
some stiles and gates. Some of the walks will be up to 1km round
trip. WARNING! There will be clabber! Wear suitable footwear and
clothing suitable for the Irish climate. Take a packed lunch and
bring the good weather with you.

A21 Main Bangor to Newtownards Road. Coming from Newtownards it is
on the left, almost opposite the Ark farm. It is part of
Whitespots and you come on it very suddenly.
There will be a charge of £5 per head.
Opened in 1994 as a tourist attraction and educational facility. The
Centre examines Ireland's role in the First World War with special
reference to local cross-community involvement in the three
volunteer divisions raised in Ireland: the 10th and 16th (Irish)
Divisions and the 36th (Ulster) Division.

“Clare Island Abbey and its paintings.”
The
Royal Irish Academy is mounting an exhibition to mark the 100th
anniversary of The Clare Island Survey. There will also be a series
of lunchtime lectures of which this is the first one.
Meet
in Belfast Central Station in time for the 8.00 Enterprise to Dublin
This will bring us into Dublin in time for a tea/coffee before a
conducted tour of the exhibition. We will return on the 16.50
Enterprise arriving in Belfast at approx. 18.57.
There will be a new train timetable before this so
please check for any change in train times.
